Generational Generosity

This month, we're celebrating Generational Generosity, honoring the selfless acts of love and kindness from from our ancestors, mothers, grandmothers, aunts and more. Their generosity taught us the importance of heartfelt connections and genuine empathy.

As we raise our children, nieces and other young women, we continue this legacy by teaching kindness, sharing, and stewardship. Leading by example, we help them understand the impact of generosity.

Generational generosity is a testament to the enduring influence of the family members and women who shaped us.

This Mother's Day let's celebrate and honor this beautiful legacy, ensuring it lives on through the next generations.

Next-Gen Generosity

Reaching the next generation of women is more important now than ever. Women control a third of household financial assets, and this is set to grow due to longer life expectancy, rising earning power, and increasing entrepreneurship. According to NCF's recent study, did you know?

  • 79% of inheritors credit their mothers as the biggest influence on their generosity.

  • Although 70% feel unprepared and lack a sense of purpose regarding wealth.

  • Millennial women feel a strong sense of responsibility (96%) and burden (74%) regarding wealth, but 39% feel excluded from family wealth decisions.

  • In church settings, only 33% feel connected to their place of worship. Despite these challenges, women are the primary teachers of generosity.

We need to support and empower young women as stewards of wealth and teachers of generosity. To learn about NCF's study and see the full report, click HERE

What We Can Learn from Our Children

On a trip to Zambia, HOPE International’s Alisa Hoober brought her three young daughters with her. Though she had seen poverty before, experiencing it with her children changed her perspective. Their innocent curiosity and unfiltered compassion revealed the true essence of generosity—heartfelt connection and genuine empathy. This journey taught her that generosity is about love and kindness, not just material gifts. Read more about Alisa's experience HERE.
